What We Believe (Our Doctrine):
We believe in God who is the Creator of all things, infinite and eternal. We believe in God manifested in the Trinity as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ is both fully human and fully divine. We believe that Christ’s death on the cross is a perfect redemption for the sins of the world. We believe that Jesus Christ was resurrected and ascended to heaven where he reigns as judge of humanity. We believe in the Holy Spirit as the presence and power of God in the world today.
We believe the Holy Scriptures, both the Old Testament and New Testament, contain all that is necessary for salvation and that the Old Testament is not to be ignored in its importance.
We believe that although humanity is created in the image of God, we inherit original sin. We believe that humanity has free will to choose salvation by faith in Jesus Christ and that salvation will lead to a new life in Jesus Christ. We believe in the resurrection of the dead for those who believe in Jesus Christ. Likewise, eternal condemnation for those who choose to live in sin. We believe the Holy Spirit is received by individuals who profess a faith in Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit is manifested in spiritual gifts used to serve the church. We believe in the complete renewal of our sinful nature by God’s grace through the power of the Holy Spirit.
We believe in the Church, the right of public worship, and the celebration of the Lord’s day.
We believe in two Sacraments ordained by Christ in the Gospels of Baptism and The Lord’s Supper.
We believe in one Baptism of water and the Spirit. We believe that Baptism is a sign of profession of faith, a covenant with God, repentance and inner cleansing, new life in Christ, membership in the Church, and a mark of Christian discipleship. We believe that Baptism is God’s gift to people of any age.
We believe the Lord’s Supper is a representation of our forgiveness, a memorial of Jesus Christ’s death on the cross, and a communion Christians have with Christ and with one another. All people who seek forgiveness of their sins and seek to live in peace with one another are invited to take the bread and drink the cup to receive, in a spiritual manner, the body and blood of Christ until he comes again.
